Approach to therapy
Finding the right therapist can feel difficult. I hope that by sharing some thoughts about my approach, it will help you decide if we may be a good match.
The most important factor to a productive therapy is the therapeutic relationship.
That is why our work together will start by cultivating a supportive relationship where you will have a safe, confidential space to sort through confusing thoughts and explore difficult emotions. I encourage you to share as much as you can and to say whatever comes to mind. We will seek to understand the meaning behind patterns and behaviors that may be causing struggles in your life. My hope will be to bring awareness and curiosity into your internal world.
As we find a rhythm in our work together, we will both gain insights about the underlying causes of your difficulties. These insights set the foundation for beginning to rethink how you are approaching your life and interacting in your relationships. This makes change possible.
